Every Girl in the World should get tested (National HIV testing day) (via Chescaleigh)
I’m very honored to be a part of the National HIV Testing Day Blog-a-thon! This project is sponsored by the Black Women’s Health Imperative, in an effort to raise awareness for National HIV Testing Day, Monday June 27th. Please take a moment and check out my video to promote this amazing initiative. I took a risk and tried to do something funny but informative that will hopefully keep your attention and also shed light on an important issue in our community.
Although African Americans only make up 13% of the US population, we account for 45% of the country’s new HIV infections! And Black women are at an even higher risk, with 9 out of 10 accounting for women with HIV. So with that being said, it’s important to know your status and your partner’s status in order to protect yourself.
I encourage you to share this video (via Facebook, Twitter or reblog) with someone you love and urge them to get tested. For more info visit http://elevateconversation.org
