article on the Moth via The New York Times
Last night I went to the Moth’s storytelling slam at The Bitter End in Manhattan. The Moth is a weekly storytelling session that features real stories presented without notes that follow a particular theme. Last night’s session, a collection of 10 embarrassingly awkward stories, was by far one of the coolest and most inspiring events I’ve ever been to. I’ve heard stories performed at the Month on This American Life, but seeing the stories performed live and being a part of the standing room only audience was a truly amazing experience. I didn’t participate because I didn’t have a story that fit the theme, but I will definitely be going back in the near future and hopefully will have a story for an upcoming theme.
