My big Sis Suzanne and I at yesterday’s What I Wore Moving Sale
After 2 years of online friendship, I finally was able to meet my “internet big sister” Suzanne! I “met” Suzanne online after she made a video response to one of my tutorials. At first we would just casually email and exchange comments on my blog and on my videos. Then we graduated to facebook, video chatting and finally gabbing on end over the phone. One of the things I love most about Suzanne (in addition to her incredible personality and great sense of humor) is that she’s always offered me great advice and support like a big sister would, despite the fact that until yesterday we’d never officially met in person. After grabbing lunch in Williamsburg we headed to Jessica Schroeder’s apartment for her moving sale. As many of you know, Jessica’s blog, What I Wore is one of my favorite sites (she’s also featured one of my outfits on her blog!) and she really inspired me to start blogging about fashion and my wardrobe. We had a great time at Jessica’s and Suzanne got a really cute trench coat and I bought a great mod style dress and golden headband. I really enjoyed meeting Jessica not only because I’m a fan of her blog, but mainly because I’m so inspired by the great work she does and how successful her site has become. This past year Jess was able to quit her job as a fashion designer and is now a full time blogger! Pretty amazing. So it was really cool to rummage through Jess’s beautiful clothes (even though most of them were too tiny for me), pick her brain for a bit and talk about the business of blogging.
So hands down, I had one of the best Saturday’s in my short New Yorker history. It’s pretty incredible what a huge impact the internet has had in my life over these past years, but it’s even more amazing when I realize how many great friendships and learning opportunities it has brought me. (Ew, I feel so 2009 saying that…) I can’t wait to see what’s next!
